sfondi myspace Skill In Veins was born in 2009 when young italian guitarist Andrea Lanza “Andream” contacted worldwide known producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice, Edge Of Forever, Eden’s Curse, Axe, Moonstone Project) with a bunch of songs to produce. Andream spent more than a year writing music and lyrics for this album and the material was really promising so that’s why they put up a stellar band ready to enter the studio and burn down the house. First choice was amazing drummer Francesco Jovino of U.D.O., Edge Of Forever and Moonstone Project fame with his partner in crime Nik Mazzucconi on the bass. With this superb rhythm section Alessandro proposed one of the new rising stars in Italy, Gabriele Gozzi (Markonee, Killer Klown). With musicians like that you cannot but expect a tremendous performance in the perfect style of bands like Badlands, Cry Of Love, Lynch Mob and Guns ‘N Roses. The only thing I wanted to do was playing and having fun. There was no way to stop me! Amazing performance of Francesco on drums..he is really fast as a shark;-) – SKULLS ON THE WAY This song is about the difficulties (here named as skulls) you find on your life-path. Here I’m talking about how you cannot stop in front of the problems in your run for survival. I really like the groove I create with Francesco and Nik; it really reminds me of Slash’s Snakepit’s first record. – YOUTH TIMES Live each day as it was the last one. This song was born around the same time as “Can’t Ride My Soul” and it really talks about my vision of life. Probably the most GNR influenced of the whole record. Gabriele shouts out his soul and heart in this rageous melody. – I’M LIVING MY LIFE Absolutely the first lyrics I ever wrote. One day at work I started to sing and whistle the chorus over four chords I had in mind. Very easy, melodic and strength-giving. Gabriele reminds me of Robert Mason in more than one occasion here. Big vocals! – SICK MIND It’s rage, passion, fire burning and soul screaming. It’s all against politicians who rule the world without any consciousness in their decision. The most modern of the tracks with D-tuned guitars and a powerful double-kick pattern as a layer for me and Nik. – BURNED NIGHT (Bonus track) Simply about a love story I was living only during night-times. Dusty memories about a firey adventure of love and passion. This was the first song recorded in the studio. Here again Gabriele stands out for his performance. – YOU’RE DOING IT AGAIN Originally this track was kinda refused by my producer Alessandro Del Vecchio. The original demo version was very into RHCP, which is something probably Ale doesn’t love that much;-) We waited until Gabriele sang it and the result really surprised everybody. So we kept it. Again Nik makes his bass talk in the verses with some slap-bass. This song is about the strange “take-or-leave-it” attitude you have between a woman and a man who want to make a couple. – JUST ONE DRINK Probably to understand this tune you have to be drunk. So everyone will have his own vision of the song and we all will discover that everybody’s vision will be the same….sometimes being drunk makes everybody equal;-) Another marvelous external input with italian blues-harp master Marco Simoncelli. Very Slash’s Snakepit influenced tho. – NO NEED YOU TO CRY Sometimes a woman needs more feelings, more trust and more attention than what men usually think. So she goes away with another man and we think we don’t need especially just that woman to cry. Probably it’s just something we, as men, think. I really love how Gabriele sings here. You really can appreciate how this guy can be compared to the greatest hard rock singers. The real ballad of the record. – THE WAY OUT I love the intro like being in the rehearsals room. This song is about the daily fight you live to gain what you really deserve. Why? Because there’s always one way out! – WE DON’T CRY This song was written when I was 16 in my first band. Our then bass player was a guy of my age, Lucio. Lucio saddenly died in a car accident, so this song is dedicated to his soul. The song is about how I like to gain my status in life “sweating” my goals. I think here you can really get our Megadeth influences. Ale really wanted and pushed to have a sound like Megadeth had in “Youthanasia” with Max Normann and here is quietly palpable. – WE DON’T BELIEVE IN FABLES Another shout at the society and the distorted truth they put in our eyes. Musically this is the most complex song of the entire record. Various sections and different atmospheres all long the track. I really like how it turned out because we really worked a lot for getting to this point.
