Diana Vickers (born 30 July 1991)is a student from Accrington, Lancashire and has been singing since the age of 11. She has taken singing lessons and has participated in local competitions, but has never sung professionally.
Diana began her X-Factor journey when singing Damien Rice’s “The Blower’s Daughter”. After the audition stage, she sang “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol on the first stage of bootcamp and sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” at the second stage, while getting positive reviews by all four judges. Simon Cowell included she has a great taste in music.

When singing in Cheryl Cole’s group, she sang “Nothing Compares To You” by Sinead O’Connor and “Carry You Home” by James Blunt. After performing the first song, Cheryl noticed Diana’s disappointment, thinking this could be her downfall. However, Cole chose Vickers as her final three, along with Alexandra Burke and Laura White.
On her first live show Vickers sang U2’s “With or Without You”. On the 18 October show she covered Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror”, for which she received nothing but praise with Dannii Minogue describing it as “box fresh” and Simon Cowell remarking she is “the one to beat”. The following week she performed “Smile” which again received much praise and the judges were even more impressed with her version of Blondie’s “Call Me”.
In week five, Diana was excused from performing due to a severe case of laryngitis.
